Moving on isn’t quitting

Quote I saw today:  “Failure isn’t permanent.  Quitting is.”

The trick is understanding when quitting is OK.  Say you don’t know if you like accounting.  You take a class, get a B (or worse) and decide not to take any more.  The key is knowing whether you aren’t pursuing accounting because of the grade you got, or because you just didn’t like it.

If it’s the latter, you have not failed at all.  You’ve learned and eliminated a path, leaving you more time to pursue another one.  This kind of “quitting” isn’t really quitting – it’s moving on.
