Thought-provoking quote from Cindy Whitehead, CEO of The Pink Ceiling, regarding how to approach a new job (her advice applies to interns as well):
“I tell people to walk into your boss’s office in the first week and say, “I want to be great at this. I’m here to add value. I’d love any opportunity to learn.”
You don’t have to use these exact words. Come up with whatever language is the least awkward for you. At a minimum, your boss will appreciate the effort. If you’re fortunate, you’ll get feedback that could turn a crappy experience into a super rewarding one.
